How GPA is calculated
For each subject, marks obtained divided by total marks gives a percentage, which maps to a letter grade and a grade point on the scale below. Each subject's grade point is multiplied by its credit hours, those are added up across every subject, and the total is divided by the total credit hours, giving a weighted GPA that reflects course load, not just a plain average.
GPA = Σ(grade point × credit hours) / Σ(credit hours)

Frequently asked questions
Why does credit hours matter for GPA?+
A 4-credit subject reflects more coursework than a 1-credit subject, so it should influence your overall GPA more. Weighting by credit hours makes the GPA proportional to actual course load instead of treating every subject equally.
Does this match my university's official GPA scale exactly?+
It uses a common Pakistani university semester-system scale, shown in full above. Grade boundaries and grade points vary between institutions, so treat this as a close estimate and confirm against your university's official policy for anything that needs to be exact.
What if I don't know my credit hours yet?+
Most subjects are 3 or 4 credit hours, which is what's pre-filled by default. Check your course outline or transcript for the exact value if you need the result to be precise.
