Exact dimensions vs percentage scale

Use exact dimensions when you need a specific pixel size, for a form, a profile photo requirement, or a print size. Use percentage scale when you just want the image smaller or larger relative to its original size without worrying about the exact pixel count.

About the aspect ratio lock

With the lock on, changing the width automatically adjusts the height to keep the image's original proportions, so it won't look stretched or squashed. Turn it off if you deliberately need a different width-to-height ratio than the original.

Frequently asked questions

Does resizing reduce file size too?+
Usually yes, since smaller dimensions mean fewer pixels to store, but for the smallest possible file size at a given dimension, use the Image Compressor afterward with a quality setting that suits you.
Can I make an image larger than its original size?+
Yes, up to 200% scale, but enlarging beyond the original resolution will make the image look softer or blurrier, since no new detail is actually being added.
